Signet ring with lapis by VerdeRame Jewels

What is a signet ring?

A signet ring is typically a ring with a wider, flat top that bears a coat of arm, a family crest, a symbol or someone's initials.

This type of ring has been around for centuries and, as the name might suggest, it was used by the powerful to "sign" documents by pressing their signet into hot wax, thus leaving a recognisable print on the wax seal.

As such, signet rings were highly personalised and prised, as they truly represented one's identity and status. To these days, even if they have lost their official function, they are still beloved pieces that are handed down generations in families who still know their crest.

However, fear not. You do not need to know your coat of arm to wear a signet ring. In fact, due to their versatile yet classic design, they are suitable for pretty much anyone, regardless of sex and style.

You can either choose a symbol or design that you would like to have engraved in your signet, or you could simply choose to have a stone, a texture, or just a plain, polished surface.

Here some examples, but remember the possibilities are endless! Contact me, if you want to know more.
